Orthodontics and dentofacial orthopaedics is the branch of dentistry aimed at correcting and controlling dentofacial structures during growth and in the adult. It uses therapeutical devices that serve to correct skeletal malformations and to perform the dental movements that are necessary for obtaining correct dental relations. The main responsibility in orthodontics regards diagnosis, prevention, interception and treatment of dental and skeletal malocclusions as well as device selection, application and control.
